Clean Up Wandi 2011

Having a coffee after a good morningTwenty one local volunteers gave up a couple of hours on Sunday morning 6 March 2011 to help Clean Up Australia. The registration desk was at the entry to the Wandi Community Centre but volunteers worked along several of the roadsides in the area.


In all we collected 53 bags of rubbish.Volunteers reported picking up a large amount of glass bottles (mostly alcohol), drink cans and tetra packs and fast food containers. A large number of empty boxes of over-the-counter pain relief tablets were also collected (this was not noticed last year). Also found, we tyres, broken bikes and dumped building materials.

Chatting after the morning cleanupRoger Cook, Member for Kwinana, volunteered at our site. We were also delighted that the Satterley Property Group sponsored Mr Mocha coffee van to provide us with muffins, biscuits and coffee. We encourage local residents to assist with litter collection all year round whenever possible to Keep Wandi Beautiful.
